Max is a genetically altered Tibetan Mastiff, designed to replace ordinary guard dogs like German Shepherds. He's been modified with the D.N.A of other animals, such as owls, jaguars, and chameleons to give him their most desirable abilities: camouflage, enhanced eyesight, the ability to climb, etc. He also has a high degree of intelligence, allowing him to understand and follow orders without the need for a human partner. All of the altering has left him with a volatile nature and killer instincts, making him potentially dangerous to ordinary people who anger him or he dislikes. He is still a dog though and generally more laid back and loyal to people he likes.
